Use this decimal to fractional odds converter to translate any decimal price into the fractional (UK) format used in horse racing and many British sportsbooks. Decimal odds show the total payout per unit staked; fractional odds show the profit ratio. The conversion is a one-step subtraction.

The formula

Decimal − 1 = Profit ratio. Express that as a fraction.Example: Decimal 2.50 → 1.50 profit ratio → 3/2. Decimal 4.00 → 3.00 → 3/1.

For decimals under 2.00 the fraction will be less than 1/1 (the favorite case). Decimal 1.50 → 0.50 → 1/2.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why convert decimal to fractional?

UK and Irish bookmakers display odds in fractional form by default. If your model or sharp source uses decimal, you need to convert before placing the bet on a UK book.

Why does decimal 2.00 equal 1/1?

Decimal 2.00 means doubling your stake (1.00 profit per 1.00 staked). 1/1 (also written "evens") means the same thing: win 1 unit profit per 1 unit staked.

What if the fraction comes out ugly?

Sportsbooks display odds rounded to standard fractional lines (4/5, 5/6, 10/11, etc.). The calculator above shows the exact reduction; round to the nearest standard line shown on your book.
