What Are Dropping Odds?
Dropping odds are prices that sharp bookmakers cut hard in a short window. Sharp books like Pinnacle and Circa move first because professional money hits them first. When their price on an outcome falls, the market believes that outcome is more likely than the old price implied.
Retail sportsbooks copy sharp lines with a delay. That delay is the opportunity: when Pinnacle drops from 2.10 to 1.85 and DraftKings still offers 2.05, you are betting at yesterday's price on today's information. Fast drops are also called steam moves, and a line that moves against the public money is reverse line movement. Both show up in the feed the moment they happen.
